This DIPA pours a deep copper color with a white head that leaves a nice small amount of lacing in the glass. It has an aroma of melon and citrus, with a nice grassy pine in the background. With the first drink you get a strong melon front that leads to a very sweet citrus middle. Then it has has a slight earthy pine resin bitterness on the finish. It is medium bodied and has medium carbonation with a slight sweet syrup feel. Overall, the only down side is the syrup quality that leaves you feeling a little too sweet for the style. It seems as if there isn’t enough hops (or the right ones) to balance out the malt that is overpowering. They do a good job at hiding the ABV, but unfortunately it doesn’t stand out against the others of this style.
