This stout pours a very dark brown color with a small tan head that fades fast. It starts off right away in the aroma with coffee, chocolate and a slight detection of roasted malt. The taste is much of the same with a slight malty start, bitter coffee middle and a strong lingering bitterness on the finish. This one is medium bodied with an overpowering bitterness. Overall, it is a little thin and lackluster. There is a strong lingering bitterness that is off putting for the style. While the oatmeal and coffee were present, it wasn’t enough to mention on the label as the primary focus on this beer. It would have helped if both the oatmeal and malt were turned up a few notches in the future.
