This complex milk stout pours creamy black with a small tan head that dissipates to a small ring. The aroma is rich with coffee and cocoa with a nice hint of bourbon from the aging. The flavor is very complex and quite amazing on this milk stout. It starts with roasted coffee and cocoa up front then transitions to a nice earthy pepper and spice character. The spice is rounded out by an oaky vanilla and cinnamon that ends on a nice roasted bourbon presence. The mouthfeel is creamy from the lactose addition and surprising doesn’t have too much heat from the high alcohol. This is an absolute must try beer. You won’t find many with this level of complexity and balance.
