This brown ale pours a very dark amber brown with a small tan head. The aroma is a nice balance of chocolate and vanilla with hints of coffee. The flavor is surprisingly close to a swirly frozen yogurt on a cone. It starts with coffee and chocolate upfront then moves to a very pleasant chocolate and toasted malt character in the middle, only to finish on a smooth vanilla. When the vanilla sets in on the finish, you get a real sense of where the name originated. This is lighter bodied with higher carbonation and honestly could use some creaminess to make it a bit smoother. Check this one out if you want to experience a swirly cone in a bottle!
