Smell of hops up front, with caramel and rye. With an addition of light tropical grapefruit and lime zest.
A very dark amber/brown color with a large amount of sediment. This beer has a very light head with decent retention.
Similar to the aroma but a bit toned down. There is still a little more bitterness along with a spicy earthy rye. The finish has that spiciness rye mixed with light caramel.
Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth for the style of beer with a dry spicy finish.
Herbed roasted pork, Jamaican-style jerk chicken, and spicy enchiladas.
I had higher expectations from the decent reviews on this one. Overall, this beer was decent for a rye beer, but nothing extraordinary. I also had high hopes from the aroma, but it disappointed from there. I will say it had an intriguing creaminess for the style that kept me going back for another sip. But the actual flavor was lacking and the beer needed more.
