This spiced ale pours a dark amber brown color with a foamy head with good retention. The aroma is full of malt character with some roasted, dark and caramel malts all blending with an oaky vanilla and some chicory earthiness. The flavor hits off with roasted and toasted malts that turn to a deep oaky earthiness and then finishes on a big hot chipotle spice. This has a lighter body, an almost watery texture with average carbonation. The peppery spice hits with a big hotness on the finish and might be a bit much for some, but if you like some spice you’ll seriously dig this one. It has a very nice overall balance with the malts and oak character complementing the spice very well.
