This stout pours a very deep brown as the head quickly disappears to make way for little to no lacing. The aroma starts of with a strong chai spice, with a slight chocolate and dark malt presence that is all wrapped up with a beautiful cinnamon aroma. As you dive in to this one you get a spiced chai front that leads to a roasted malt middle. The lactose sweetness overpowers the malt character as you move to a milky nutmeg/cinnamon finish. The mouthfeel is watery with low carbonation. As highly anticipated as this beer was it is just a bit weak on complexity. While it has some nice character, I felt as if the malt base wasn't strong enough to build up a full enough body, giving way to a watery stout. Overall, a decent offering with a very nice chai character. If you enjoy chai, you need to check this one out! It truly has amazing spice character.
