Aroma-
A light hint of tropical fruits, spruce, grapefruit rind and bitter tangerine. There is a very strong presence of sweet malt on the nose.
A slightly hazy copper color with good clarity and it has a very good head with decent retention.
Flavor-
Very similar to the aroma. The taste starts off with a sweet caramel malt and leads to a piney-herbal middle with citrus and grapefruit. It leads to a lingering hint of cough drop with a spicy finish.
Mouthfeel-
Medium to heavy body with moderate carbonation. Smooth and the alcohol is well hidden for the style of beer.
Food pairings-
Jalapeño poppers, buffalo wings, el pastor burritos.
Overall Impression-
This is an average IIPA. It's a bit watery and lacks a strong hop flavor, with a little too much sweetness. It also has a strange after taste that resembles a cough drop. It's not true to the style, but is overall decent.
