This porter pours black with a lighter tan head with decent retention. The aroma has hints of bittering chocolate and roasted malt with some nut and toffee characteristics. The flavor starts with some sweet chocolate then moves into a short lasting sweet toasted and roasted malt. The finish hits hard with a big earthy, smoky bitterness that is a bit overwhelming. This has an expected medium to heavy body but an interesting higher carbonation. This is a good beer to experience some big character, and don’t forget to check out the recipe and brew a batch yourself!
