This Double IPA pours a darker golden orange with a very nice bubbly head and decent retention. The aroma has a nice juicy grapefruit and sweet caramel malt with a slight bitterness. The flavor starts with a strong juicy grapefruit front that leads right into a caramel malt middle. There is a nice bitter grapefruit finish with hints of earthy spice from the added rye. This is very nicely balanced and has a medium body. Overall, this one is a great DIPA with a spicy twist. It showcases a great balance between the rye and hops in this one. It is a solid offering from Mike Hess, don’t miss your chance to check it out.
