This stout pours deep black with a tan medium head with decent retention. The aroma resembles a pot of brewed drip coffee after it has cooled. The flavor starts with coffee upfront and has a slight bitter roasty middle then ends on a strong bitter coffee character. It has an interesting watery creaminess with higher carbonation. The idea of barrel aging coffee beans seems like a really awesome way to gain some flavor, but in this representation, it just didn’t work out. There is very little malt character which turns it to a cup of cold black coffee.
