Watermelon Gose | Goliad Brewing | Goliad, TX | Gose
Picture
ABV: 5.2%
IBU: 6

Aroma:
  • watermelon cracker malt
  • coriander
  • sea salt
Flavor:
  • salty cracker
  • watermelon rind
  • tart watermelon
Mouthfeel:
  • higher carbonation
  • thicker body (but not heavy)
Overall:
This gose pours a hazy golden yellow with with very little-to almost no head. The aroma has watermelon, cracker malt and coriander with a bit of a sea salt in the background. The flavor has a salty cracker maltiness up front that transitions to a watermelon rind character through the middle. It finishes on a tart watermelon and leaves behind a saltiness to keep you sipping. The flavor has a resemblance to a watermelon sour patch kid. It has an interesting thicker feeling but it is still light in body overall. The higher carbonation gives a nice crisp feel to compliment the tartness and watermelon, but the head retention is very low. This is a great summer beer that is very drinkable and won't lack in flavor. Go get some of these for your next summer bbq!

ABV: 4.20%
IBU: 16

Aroma:
  • water
  • cracker
  • salt
Flavor:
  • cracker front
  • slight tartness
  • salty earthy finish
Mouthfeel:
  • decent carbonation
  • light easy drinker
Overall:
This Gose pours a light golden color with a thin white head and decent retention. With this one you get a slight crack at first from the malt, and then it leads straight to a salty tartness. It reminds me slightly of the ocean. The flavor is much like the aroma. It has a cracker pale malt front with a slight tartness and an earthy salty finish. There is a nice lingering salt aftertaste and the tartness gets stronger as the beer warms. It’s very light and has a nice amount of carbonation. Overall, given the style, it’s a good take and a decent beer. It’s not a style either of us tend to gravitate toward, but it was very impressive and highly drinkable! Good summer beer that would be enjoyable on a hot day and perfect for your next trip to the beach!
