This barley wine pours a dark hazy cooper color with a thin tan head and decent retention. The aromas consist of sweet malt, maple syrup and a large hot alcohol punch. There is also a slight amount of oaky presence. The flavor is similar with maple upfront with hints of caramel, brown sugar and raisins. Very quickly it fades to a nutty and sweet middle with a slight vanilla then goes directly to a earthy bitter finish. The mouthfeel is heavy in body and hot. There is a syrup feel to this one with a creamy dry finish. Overall, it’s a decent barely wine to try!
